New Orleans Aviation Board (NOAB) Chairman, Daniel F. Packer, Jr., is pleased to announce that the Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport will host the 26th Annual Business Diversity Conference June 19-22, 2010 presented by the Airport Minority Advisory Council (AMAC) and the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). AMAC has been at the forefront of nearly every national policy initiative impacting the participation of disadvantaged businesses in airport contracting. AMAC has also worked with members of Congress, the federal government and aviation trade associations as a resource for information, education and guidance. The conference theme is "Jazzed Up and Ready for Business”.
At the conference, airports and the federal government collaborate in a meaningful way with corporations and entrepreneurs regarding respective interest and issues impacting the aviation industry. This forum brings together businesses, aviation professionals and government officials to discuss a variety of issues relating to doing business with airports. This year we have added a special workshop to provide information on how entrepreneurs may become a national brand franchisee. Individual meetings with franchisors will be scheduled following the workshops.
Congressman Bennie G. Thompson (D-MS), Chairman of the Committee on Homeland Security, is scheduled to speak on the morning of Monday, June 21. Soledad O’Brien, Anchor and Special Correspondent for the CNN, is the luncheon Keynote Speaker. Ms. O’Brien is known for her documentaries and breaking news stories.
The organization is proud of its success in eliminating barriers to Minority/Woman/ Disadvantaged Business Enterprise participation and its support of M/W/DBE programs. As the airline industry grows, airports continue to increase and expand, furthering the economic growth of communities. With this growth comes opportunities in construction, procurement, professional services and concessions in our nation’s airports.
