Terminal Improvement Project to Affect Vehicle Traffic Patterns - 10/7/2011 -

 View Document

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE – October 7, 2011, New Orleans – The vehicle traffic patterns at Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport are being affected by construction activity.
On Monday, October 10, 2011, the northern lanes of the lower level roadway will be closed. The closure is required as part of the ongoing $300 Million Capital Improvement Program that will enhance the Airport facilities both inside and out. The closure is required for the installation of lighted canopy structures at each of the crosswalks on the lower roadway and being done with the safety of the public in mind.
All vehicles, including taxis will be required to use the southern most portion of the lower roadway. Airport Shuttle will be relocated to the Ground Transportation Center in the first floor of the parking garage while the work in under way. We ask that passengers coming to pick up at the airport use the Cell Phone Lot to wait for their party or park in the short term garage to alleviate some of the congestion on the lower roadway. Additional law enforcement will be on hand to assist with traffic.
The project will shift to the southern lanes and require the rerouting to the northern lanes as the project progresses. The construction activity is scheduled to be completed prior to the Thanksgiving holiday travel season.

We ask for the traveling public’s patience as we work to make a better facility for our community.
