Volunteer Opportunities

The Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport (MSY) is renowned for its warm hospitality and vibrant culture shaped by locals who capture the essence of New Orleans.

MSY is internationally recognized for its customer service. Serving as a vital gateway to Louisiana, the Louis Armstrong Airport elevates the passenger experience with world-class amenities.

Beyond employment at MSY, volunteering at the Airport offers one of the most meaningful ways to join our team.

Our airport volunteers serve as cultural ambassadors, ensuring every passenger experiences the warmth, kindness, and character that define the city. Volunteers who are bilingual and can interpret American Sign Language are strongly encouraged to apply.

The Airport has three volunteer programs to get involved with:

The Military Lounge
Lagniappe KREWE
MSY K9 KREWE

Lagniappe KREWE

The Lagniappe KREWE Volunteer Program is the official volunteer program at the Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport. Launched in 2011, our KREWE (Knowledgeable Respectful Employees Work to Excel) Volunteers at MSY are on hand with a smile to ensure that every visitor’s experience is pleasant and memorable.

Lagniappe KREWE members are stationed strategically throughout the airport terminal to greet and direct guests.

Volunteer duties include:

Meeting and greeting passengers and visitors with a welcome smile
Assisting passengers and visitors by directing them to the correct personnel, concourses, airlines, or amenities
Answering travelers’ questions and providing information about the Greater New Orleans Region

KREWE volunteers can be found at the Airport 7 days a week from 4 a.m. to 8 p.m.

We encourage volunteers to donate an average of 20 hours per month. However, donations of any amount of volunteer time are always welcome.

Military Lounge

The Military Lounge at MSY opened in May 2023. The Military Lounge is open to all active duty military with a valid military ID. Military member and their dependents can enjoy free snacks and drinks, comfortable seating, charging stations, and luggage storage.

Military Lounge volunteers can be found at the Airport 7 days a week from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.

We encourage volunteers to donate an average of 20 hours per month. However, donations of any amount of volunteer time are always welcome.

MSY K9 KREWE

The MSY K9 KREWE is an airport therapy animal program developed in partnership with the Visiting Pet Program. The K9 KREWE began in June 2018 with seven dogs and owners. Today, there are over 10 dogs and owners in the program.
