The boil water advisory in Jefferson Parish is still in effect. Due to the loss of water pressure, all restrooms and water fountains remain closed at this time. Passengers are being advised to use the portable toilets pre-security on Level 1 outside Door 3. Only prepackaged food and beverages are available in concessions.
Jefferson Parish has advised that waterline repairs are complete, and they are now working to gradually restore water pressure in the area. The exact timeline is still unknown.
A boil water advisory has been issued for the east bank of Jefferson Parish, which includes the Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport (MSY). According to the Jefferson Parish Water Department and the Louisiana Department of Health (LDH), they issued the advisory as a precautionary measure due to a loss of pressure in the distribution system as a result of a major water line break in the area.
Due to the loss of water pressure in the Airport terminal, all restrooms and water fountains in the terminal are closed at this time. Portable toilets are available for passengers pre-security on level 1 outside of door 3. Additionally, only prepackaged food and beverages are available in Airport concessions. Airlines and tenants were advised to take necessary safety precautions.
Flight operations have not been affected at this time, but passengers are advised to check directly with their airlines for the latest flight information.
This boil water advisory will remain in effect until rescinded by the Jefferson Parish Water Department or the LDH. Bacteriological samples from the distribution system will be collected and analyzed to ensure the water meets potable water standards. Airport officials will continue to monitor the event and take steps to help mitigate any potential impacts on flight operations.
