Master Plan Purpose

The goal of a master plan is to provide the framework needed to guide future development and construction. A master plan sets forth a series of prioritized projects that will allow the airport to keep pace with the aviation growth and demand for expanded passenger and airline facilities, while also considering potential environmental, financial, workforce development, and socioeconomic impacts of these improvements.  A master plan also provides MSY with the tools to react to uncertainties by examining key trends in the aviation industry, such as evolving airline business models, improvements in technology, and regional economics that could impact future airport activity.
