NEW ORLEANS – The Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport (MSY) announced today that Director of Communications Erin Burns was elected to serve on the Steering Group for aviation industry trade association Airport’s Council International-North America’s (ACI-NA) Marketing, Communications & Customer Experience (MarComCX) Committee.

The Committee develops aviation-related educational and policy programs for ACI-NA members, identifies issues and promotes public awareness of airports as economic generators for their communities, and develops strategies for delivering a strong customer experience, effective media relations, and innovative airport marketing.

“Erin has done an excellent job leading the New Orleans Airport’s marketing and public relations initiatives,” said Kevin Dolliole, Director of Aviation. “We are proud to have her in a leadership role among other marketing, communications and customer experience professionals from airports from across North America. This is especially critical as the industry tackles the challenge of restoring customer confidence in traveling since the COVID-19 pandemic.”

Capitalizing on her 12 years of past media and marketing experience, Burns has served as the Director of Communications at MSY since January 2018, with direct responsibility for the Airport’s media relations, social media, marketing, website, branding, external and governmental relations. Erin led marketing initiatives for the historic opening of MSY’s new, $1 billion airport terminal in November 2019, which received a total online news audience of 31.6 million and estimated value of $2.06 million over the course of one month.

Through her leadership, MSY was awarded the 2020 Best Overall Public Relations Program recognition for Medium Airports at ACI-NA’s Excellence in Airport Marketing, Communications, and Customer Experience (MarComCX) Awards. Additionally, Public Relations Society of America (PRSA) New Orleans Chapter presented MSY with 5 awards for campaigns related to the opening of the terminal and COVID-19 preparations.
