NEW ORLEANS – Due to the anticipation of high passenger activity at the Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport (MSY) on Friday, Oct. 26, 2018, motorists may experience heavy vehicular traffic on Airport Access Road and surrounding roadways approaching the terminal. The public is advised to be patient and prepare for traffic delays when traveling to or from the Airport.

Law enforcement officers will be present to direct traffic. As part of the plan to alleviate traffic, vehicles entering the airport from Airline Drive may be rerouted to the Airport Access Road toward Veterans Highway to make a U-turn and enter the terminal from that direction.

MSY is currently building a new $1.029 billion airport terminal on the north side of Airport property, and will move all operations to that location in May 2019. The new terminal will have more curbsides space for passenger pickup and drop off, which is expected to reduce congestion on airport roadways and deliver an improved passenger experience.
